Bannon celebrates its 20th birthday in 2025, and it has been quite a journey. We launched in the midst of the Celtic Tiger boom which ran for a further 3 years. We then entered an unprecedented economic and property slump which went on for what seemed like an interminable 6 years, followed by a prolonged and relatively stable 6-year recovery. This was rudely interrupted by the 2-year impact of the COVID pandemic after which the latest 3 years represented another period of recovery.
During this roller coaster ride we have seen the narrative around the retail sector dominated by online shopping, the office sector more recently rocked by remote working, the industrial sector become the logistics and data sector and residential property prices double fall by two thirds and then treble to put them just above where they were when we started.
Reflecting on such a journey, one might question our sanity in persisting in such a tumultuous industry and yet, despite it all, it has been a really rewarding experience. The various trials and tribulations that the market has thrown our way have allowed us to develop new skills, meet and interact with new clients, absorb, create and implement new ideas and develop professionally and personally.
The Bannon team has expanded, contracted and expanded again allowing us to work alongside some of the most talented people working in the property industry today. Clients have been incredibly loyal and supportive as we journeyed with them through the various peaks and troughs. And looking back what stands out is the team’s passion to deliver best in class results for these clients, caring about the pursuit of positive results.
When we set up the business back in the 2000’s our goal was to do things a bit differently, we saw an opportunity to provide a service that differentiated us from the competition. Over the next year we will be highlighting some of the key areas where we believe Bannon has made a positive impact, 20 years making a difference.
