The Task
Castlewest Shopping Centre is a convenience led shopping centre in the heart of Ballincollig, county Cork. The centre is anchored by Dunnes Stores, comprises 43 retail and restaurant units and extends to 141,934 sq.ft. Originally developed in 2005, Castlewest was purchased by our client, Davy, in 2019 and Bannon were appointed as sole leasing agents for the scheme.
The Skills
Bannon carried out a review of the existing Tenant mix of the scheme and delivered a revised leasing strategy to capitalise on the fast-growing population in the area, and better serve the local community. Castlewest features many local operators who have been in-situ since the scheme was developed in 2005. Bannon utilised our wide network of occupiers to add a number of national and international leisure, retail and food & beverage operators to the scheme and revitalise the tenant mix.
The Result
Castlewest is the focal point of retail, leisure and dining activity in Ballincollig. In addition to retail and food & beverage operators, Bannon have added an exciting mix of community-based leisure operators such as Muin Childcare, Picolo Play Village, MiFitness, Flow Pilates and Energie Fitness to the centre. This has had a positive effect on the overall scheme and has broadened the demographic profile of the Castlewest customer base. Through strategic leasing and a focus on placemaking, Bannon will continue to develop the tenant mix of Castlewest to ensure it remains as an integral part of the Ballincollig community.
